We started planning our move over a year ago, well sort of. We knew a move was in our future. Living by our friends and family was nice but our financial situation was becoming more precarious by the minute. We were in a very expensive area and knew it wasn't going to work long term. And after many discussions and prayers, a cross country transfer seemed our only option.
We spent several months waiting for a transfer and looking into housing options. I wanted land, the husband didn't actually care but he was diligent in trying to find something that would work for our family and meet my land needs(okay, wants).
The transfer finally came and after much searching we settled on a house that sits on a 1/2 acre in the country. While I had hoped for more land, I am happy with the amount I have and have been amazed at how much I will be able to fit on it.
The move finally took place in March. We were worried there would be lots of snow, but as you can see, the weather was beautiful.
We saw places we had never been. Logan, Utah, which I highly recommend. We saw the beautiful Colorado Rockies. I loved the Open fields and old farms in Kansas. We zig zagged through the Appalachian mountains while in Pennsylvania. I actually thought we were lost at that point. I even stopped at a little country store to make sure I was headed in the right direction. The nice man I talked to, sent me on my way assuring me that even though my GPS had taken me on an interesting route, I was indeed headed in the right direction and it was just a hop skip and a jump away.
At the end of our Journey, my kids, my mother and I came staggering into our hotel room ( we didn't move into our new home until the next day) where my husband was waiting (he drove ahead of us in the moving van) ready to kiss the ground and vowing to never travel such lengths again. But I have learned to never say never.......
